UPDATED: The Christmas season is in full swing in Cumbria and The Lake District but there are many events and seasonal markets still to visit to make your festive celebrations complete. Here are some of our favourites, in date order: Christmas Wreath Making, Greystoke Craft Garden, near Penrith, 12 December Make your own impressive large festive Christmas wreath using fresh greenery, spiced up with cones, berries, ribbons and more Find out how to re-use the wreath base again and again. More here Orton Christmas Farmers’ Market, 14 December A very popular farmer’s market all year round, the Christmas market is particularly well attended and this year features 30 stalls, offering a wide variety of fresh local produce. More here Windermere Christmas Celebration, 14-15 December For the first time an outdoor ice-skating rink joins the Windermere Christmas Celebration, plus a record number of local and national stallholders. There is a shuttle bus provided for the event, running from Windermere Lake Cruises Pier 1 in Bowness. More here Make A Gingerbread Decoration, Sizergh Castle, 14-15, 21-22 December Drop in and decorate a Christmas biscuit to take home and hang on your tree. Four dates available. More here Keswick's Christmas Proms, Theatre by the Lake, 15 December Popular professional carol singers Graeme Danby and Valerie Reid top the bill, alongside the award winning NASUWT Riverside Band and St Herbert's Primary School Choir. More here Christmas in Cartmel, 20 December Cartmel's monthly Farmers’ Market takes a Christmas theme, including many popular stalls from local producers in the south Lake District village. Granddad interacts with the audience through his own brand of heart-warming storytelling.
